Terms of Reference

The project aims tocreate acomplete ITinfrastructure insmall to medium sizedcompany withregard to theplanneddevelopment of the company. The currentinfrastructure iscomprisedofonlyoneclient workstations andmulti-functionalrouter andnetwork drive(NAS). Email(ExchangeServer)and collaborationsolutions (SharePoint Server) washosted. This situation wasunsatisfactorydue to poormanagementand slowandalso in terms ofdata security.

What solution do we chose?

We chose asolution withouthaving tohostapplicationson the serversof third parties. With thisisassociatedpurchasea new serverand install the appropriateapplication.

Becausenowwe needto deploya minimum of3 servers(Exchange, Sharepoint, Active Directory), we chosethe pathof virtualization, specifically on the physicalmachine, IBM BladeCenter S.Bladecentrumis delivered directlylicensedVMwareEssentialsPlus, whichexactlycovers threebladeseach withtwoprocessors.This solutiongives ussufficientpowercapacityinthe event of furtherdevelopment of the company.

 

Why dowe have deployedVMware?

DeployingVMwarewasfor several reasons.The firstwas the needto install multipleservers,so wechosea flatconsolidation ona single server.Nextfollowed therequirements forhigh availabilityapplications thatthe company willoperatetheservers, this is achieved by HA Cluster.

Furthereditions ofEssentialsPlusprovidesa great toolfor backing upVMware DATA Recovery.Withbackupplans,it is possible toeasilyschedule backupsand with the helpof advanced toolsfordata deduplication, VMware hasup to 50% less spacethanconventionaldatabackup.

As a result,we can say thatthis solutionwegetvirtualizationin-a-box forsmallto mediumbusiness.IBM BladeCenter S, whichistailor-made licenseedition ofEssentialsPlusprovidesall the functionalityforminimalfinancialresourcesand is thusavailablefor smallbusinesses and entrepreneurs.

All installationwas done inIntertechbackgrounddatawasdeliveredto the customersite thatjust connectto the network andturn on.Alltheinfrastructure isoperational.
